this is really terrible so big trigger warning for animal death/suffering but i have to talk about it. my cat died of a sudden thrombosis and associated lung edema. she suddenly couldn’t stand anymore, couldn’t lift her head, was breathing heavily and cried from pain. it was really hard to find an emergency vet, and when he finally arrived, her body was already shutting down. it was honestly traumatizing to watch her like this. i know we did everything we could and there was no way we could have avoided this. maybe it was because she was so weakened from her tooth pain and refusing to eat and the stress of vet visits and force feeding her. we were planning to have her teeth cleaned/extracted literally the next day. i was at the vet with her just a day earlier and her breathing and heart rate were fine, and a week before we had her heart checked. it had gotten a bit worse but the muscle was still strong. i had so many things planned for her. i thought we would have many more years together. i’m glad we were able to get someone to end her suffering and let her fall asleep, but i wish none of this had happened. it’s not fair

@thetigerwasariver thank you. it’s hard to not still see her in that state in my head, but i think it’ll get better over time.

@elisedorian i’m so sorry. our baby was maybe 6 at most. i guess considering her health situation, she had a very long life, but it doesn’t feel that way. just a week earlier she was playing and running around. she was too good for this world honestly
