this looks like it’s been chopped or cut in some way- notice how the one end has a very clean edge. it’s 100% a bone, (the shape suggests a rib,) but I’d hazard a guess that this was some sort of livestock animal, like a pig or lamb. this may well have been the remains of someone’s meal!

thank you so much for the input! rib was also my first thought. i found it on a riverbank that is submerged during high water, so i think it has been in the water. it looks very clean besides the dirt from the ground. tbh i hope it’s not “just” meal leftovers cause that sounds significantly less cool to me 😅
